| Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy "Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is an holistic healing art. It invites presence and awareness, rather than prescribe treatments. Using age-old yogic approaches to deeper presence and awareness we are able to know ourselves more fully. Out of this knowing, we are more easily moved to embrace the opportunity for change, growth and enhanced well being in body, feelings, thought, and spirit." — Michael Lee, Founder Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy I am a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist. This type of yoga therapy is a one-on-one person-centered practice that uses assisted yoga postures along with dialogue. In a non- directive fashion, this work creates the space for clients to discover their ability to heal themselves. Throughout a session the practitioner asks the client, “What’s happening now?” and any response is acceptable, sometimes being explored further. The postures and the talking are used to help clients get in touch with what is present for them during the experience and to explore how that relates to their lives. I have had profoundly helpful experiences in receiving this work and I have seen numerous benefits it has had for others. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy seems to be the closest healing art out there that approaches the work I intend to do: bringing yoga and psychotherapy together. And of the various forms of yoga therapy training, it is most known for its mind-body-spirit focus. The training program itself has been a wonderful way to explore the possibilities of integrating yoga with holistic mental healing as well as a means to further know and develop myself.
